One woman's journey from Christianity to Islam via Buddhism

Unlike the Florida basketball player who reverted back to Christianity, Sr.Nancy Nelson found a strong support group of fellow converts.

In the words of a scholar the only support that the "born Muslims" offer is that of "Takbeer Allahu Akbar." After that you are on your own.

It is also interesting to note that one of the reasons that she and her husband converted to Islam is because they were fed up with the fact that the clergy of other faiths did not practice what they preached.

Search For God: Bethel Township woman shares journey of faith

BETHEL TOWNSHIP -- At age 29, Nancy Nelson was ready to become a Buddhist nun until she found out a shocking secret about Buddhist teachings.

Today, Nelson is a member of the Islamic faith and a part of the Muslim community, located on Pearl Road. Almost 100 percent of the residents in the community converted to Islam as adults. And she and her husband feel that Christians, Jews and Muslims could get along if they would focus on a list of rules they have in common as part of their faith.
